New hire reporting laws require EVERY employer report EVERY employee: 

  • All employees need to be reported within 20 days of the date of hire.
  • Any employee returning from a leave of absence during which they received no pay for 60 days or more must be re-reported.
  • Every employee that earns any wages must be reported, including:
    • Temporary employees
    • Independent contractors
    • Seasonal employees
    • Employees who work as little as one day
