The Fayette County Board of Developmental Disabilities (FCBDD) is seeking a full-time Preschool Teacher and/or Intervention Specialist and/or Itinerant Teacher for our program for the 2025-2026 school year.
 
Description:
The preschool teacher (general education/intervention specialist) is responsible for providing instruction in the classroom. This classroom could include up to eight students with an IEP whose Least Restrictive Environment is a general education classroom type. Preschool is in session from 9:00-3:00 pm, Monday through Thursday. There is an AM and a PM session.
 
            The classroom has two educational paraprofessionals to assist with classroom needs.
 
An itinerant preschool teacher would be responsible for providing services (per student IEP) for the students in the general education classroom.
 
Qualifications:
Preschool Teacher/Intervention Specialist candidates must meet Ohio Department of Education and Workforce/Department of Children and Youth licensing requirements to teach preschool aged students.
Appropriate Licensure Includes (at least one of the following):

  • Prekindergarten Associate (180109)
  • Primary Intervention Specialist (Prek-5)
  • Primary (Prek-5)
  • Prekindergarten (180108) — limited to Kindergarten-Primary (K-3), Elementary (1-8 or K-8), High School Economics, Education of the Handicapped, Career Technical Family and Consumer Sciences and standard Intervention Specialist (K-12) licenses
  • Prekindergarten Special Needs (196097) — limited to PreK certificates, Early Childhood (Prek-3), Primary (Prek-5), Kindergarten-Primary (K-3), Elementary (1-8 w/PreK endorsement or K-8), High School Economics, Education of the Handicapped, Career Technical Family and Consumer Sciences and standard Intervention Specialist (K-12) licenses
 
Information about Fayette Progressive Preschool:
We are an Ohio Department of Education and Workforce/Department of Children and Youth (legacy ODE) licensed Special Needs/Inclusion Preschool Program.  Our model includes both students with and without disabilities. This helps all children learn from each other, develop social skills and create friendships, which follow them as they move into public education. Hills and Dales offers fun activities using the Creative Curriculum, Heggerty, and A Little SPOT of Feelings for social-emotional development. Students are provided with gross motor and fine motor activities, literacy enrichment, a playground and a large sensory room. iPads and upgraded technology support classroom instruction. Students also enjoy field trips and multiple family involvement opportunities.
Children receive therapy services as needed (per IEP) from Occupational, Speech, Physical and Behavioral Therapists.
 
Starting Date: August 11, 2025 – Daily Hours 8:30-3:30, Monday through Friday.
 
Salary: Commensurate with Experience
 
Other Information: 
The FCBDD is a drug-free workplace which prohibits the use of marijuana (recreational marijuana and medical cannabis).  Individuals must be able to pass criminal background checks as required by the Ohio Revised Code; 180-day probation period must be completed. Individuals must be able to pass BCI and FBI criminal background checks as required by the Ohio Revised Code; pass a preemployment drug screen, physical and TB test, and have a valid Ohio driver’s license with a clean driving record and a satisfactory MVR CORSA score.
